General Rate Increase
Carriers up for another General Rate Increase in July on the Asian-Europe Trade
Container Carriers has taken a fall in the past five years, hit by the downscaling Global economy
and ordering for new ships in 2008-2009 just as the crisis started.
The Danish MAersk group has remarkably turned a loss of USD 600 million in 2012 first quarter
to a profit of Usd 200 Million in 2013. Maersk beleive that the rates can be doubled in July 2013. In spite of the fact that
that capacity keeps boosting for 2013 , as MAersk takes delivery of its first 20 Mega Ships later this year.
Trade analysts however, are very reluctan to make any predections in Maersk direction ,as the trade continues
to struggle with overcapacity.
